Reconnect with the words & melodies of the Holiday liturgy. Delve into the meanings of the ancient prayers and their relevance to the lives we lead today. Children will participate in age-appropriate crafts, as well as learning basic concepts and songs of the holidays. S'lichotSeptember 11th, 9 PM, open to all, at BMCC, 199 Chambers Street in the Richard Harris Terrace This year, the traditional observance of S'lichot coincides with the anniversary of the events of Septamber 11, 2001. In the days immediately following the attacks, many of us approached our lives with renewed purpose and clarity, our priorities were jarred into place. Since then, inevitably, we have slipped back into some of our old habits. The urgency we felt has dissipated. The S'lichot service, announcing the onset of the High Holidays, is designed to be an annual wake-up call. It reminds us of where our values and priorities ought to be, and helps us to find the strength - through community and prayer - to bring ourselves closer to that place. Come join us for S'lichot services which will feature both ancient liturgy and modern thought, providing us with the resources to enter the Holiday season with a renewed sense of purpose.
